30 Days of Photography III: Day 8 ~ Hair that's a fright

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

Lyrics from Hair
~ James Rado and Gerome Ragni

At 15 I had long, fuzzy, frizzing, shining, gleaming, streaming, shaggy honey-blonde hair.
By 17 I was a curly, fleecy, shining, gleaming, dark brown mop-top with a Santa fetish.

I photographed these old snaps and created one collage just for fun to link up with these other hairballs.

  3. Love, love, LOVE that first photo! And it looks like Santa's the one with the fetish. And his eyes don't look so merry. I'd get off his lap if I were you. Eek!

    Love,
    Your fellow hairball.

  5. I took photographs of screaming children on Santa's lap for a couple of seasons. The same company hired me to do the Easter Bunny gig. Some of the men who played Santa were fun but most of them were pretty damn scary. Most of the EB's were women since everyone knows that bunnies don't talk. I stopped going back after the year I had to dress as an elf. Picture a female Will Ferrell & you'll understand why,

  6. I wondered if anyone would come up with "Hair". You're showing your age. That picture at 15 is simply great.

  7. Love the age 15 photo. We have a thing for photographing people while they sleep. Very funny. Santa's eyes do not say to me "Jolly" more like they are saying "Homicidal".

  10. I had some long red hair once upon a time...now I'll be going to the Barber later just to make my lack of hair look somewhat intentional. Good for you for sharing the pics.

  15. TOO FUNNY! I had light hair once too, now I have - well, I don't know...been too long since I have seen mine natural color - went gray early.

  19. Love the teen age shots- I wouldn't be brave enough to post them - so glad that there was no internet when I was in high school! Now the 15 year old you...passed out from too much beer or just snoring????

  20. I think I was camera shy during my teens. Wait a sec, What am I on about? I've been camera shy my whole life!

  21. You haven't changed at all, Cheryl...except for the evolving color. We're so evolved these days, aren't we? I always love these little trips down memory lane! (I actually snuck in an old picture of myself today.)

  22. There's a barely visible pink & white pin on my shirt (it's the only reason I know I was 15). I'd spent the entire weekend volunteering & attending all the exciting events for my home town's sesquicentennial celebration. I was completely exhausted & more than likely snoring like a sailor.

  23. I was too. Being photographed in my sleep wasn't my idea. I worked as Santa's & the Easter Bunny's helper taking Polaroid pics of kids on their laps. I have a couple shots one of my coworkers took just for fun. Not many photos of me kicking around. These were just too funny not to share for this silly prompt especially since I don't share pictures of friends and family (except RM when he agrees).

  24. Photographing a photograph... very clever. Back in the day I got a perm. All my friends called me Dennis Deyoung

  25. At 15, my dear, you had a DRINKING problem! LOLOL Just kidding! Thanks for sharing these awesome shots.... I don't have the guts to show my hair back then!

  26. Sitting on Santa's lap at 17 is not a sign of good mental health. On the other hand, nobody knows better than Santa who's naughty and who's nice, and maybe he pulled you onto to his lap for good reason.

  27. As Japanese our black straight hair don't change like yours. So it's fun to look those pictures.

  28. I was taking a break from working behind the Polaroid camera where I took endless photos of shrieking children being forced to sit on Santa's lap. I have a long and very impressive resume. The seasons I did this & the Easter Bunny gig are merely a couple of the highlights.
