Still trying to keep up with these other shimmy-shakers.

As much as a I like the little city I call home . . .
. . . I love the view to the south and east.

perfecto!
ReplyDeleteexcellent. i like this one a lot..
ReplyDeleteHey! You were having fun without me! Makes me want to go wave some sparklers back and forth in the dark.
ReplyDeleteNow that's more like it...wooooo! Wish I had been able to participate today, but I didn't know how I'd capture a vibration, but you did a great job with it.
ReplyDeleteLooks vibrational. I need another cup of coffee though- everything looks like that a little right now.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's gorgeous. Nicely done.
ReplyDeletethat's great!
ReplyDeleteawesome!
ReplyDeleteoh wow...your light play is awesome....have a great weekend cheryl!
ReplyDeleteWhat!! That's friggen awesome! Damn woman. I can actually FEEL the vibrations coming from this photo!
ReplyDeleteVery cool - but please what is it? Over the water lights on a bridge???
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's a technique for night photography using very slow shutter & ISO settings. I pointed the camera across the mouth of the river, focused on the mostly dark Naval buildings surrounded by security lights & a couple of top-lit cranes, then clicked and slowly moved the camera up and down. It's called painting with lights. Since I couldn't see what was happening (SLR camera), I shot a ton of photos. Some are wild but I only got a few that captured 'vibration' well.
ReplyDeleteExcellent interpretation for el vibrato.
ReplyDeleteOhh, Michael's going to be pissed he didn't think of this himself, he loves stuff like this. And so do I, actually, beautiful work, Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteSweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. ::snort::
ReplyDeleteI had but one goal in this entire challenge: piss Michael off without giving him the bird. I win the Mars Rover!
Thanks Ziva.
Damn you, Cheryl! Ziva's right, this is totally me, except that it's yours. I love it. But you don't win the Mars rover with one photo. It's on, girl!
ReplyDeleteBring. It. On. In another 24 days, that rover will be mine.
ReplyDelete(You and I aren't so different, except for your irrational fear of birds.)
I love what you wrote on your profile....very funny. I grew up in Franklin Massachusetts and the only thing I miss about New England is the coastline...my most favorite places to visit as a teen when I got my drivers license was Rockport/Plymouth/Newport. I also read your piece on Yes, Your Blog Design Matters...I kept nodding my head the whole time I read it....I so agree with all you wrote!!! I can't stand all the blogs that are now taking on advertising...it drives me insane.
ReplyDeleteI love love slow shutter pics. We used to take sparklers and let kids write in the sky with them. That quickly became very annoying for me every time I went some where and people expected me to have sparklers lurking in my bag.
ReplyDeleteI need to promptly pack up and move to where ever you live. This is STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!! I am full of envy!
How did you do that!!!! What a wonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! What a pretty pretty place!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures!
ReplyDeleteSweet home.
ReplyDeleteAlways looks so beautiful.
What's irrational about it?
ReplyDeleteWonderful City lights in the night and fantastic landscape and view of the town. Great !
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos ~ some of them look very familiar being a Cape Ann girl ~ ^_^ (A Creative Harbor)
ReplyDeleteBesides everything?
ReplyDeleteIn the real world, have you ever heard of anyone's eyes being pecked out by a bird?
Yep, these are all just a hop, skip, and a jump away you.
ReplyDeleteIf I lived in that area, I'd have escaped to the coast too. Besides the fact that most MA drivers are insane, driving anywhere within a 100 mile radius of Boston is putting your life on the line.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if your comment about so many blogs 'taking on advertisements' might have to do with blogs that use Disqus. There's no way to opt out of advertisements in the new release. I specifically requested they get rid of them on my blog. Disqus and Blogspot had a huge malfunction last Monday. I didn't have comment boxes at all. When they repaired things I noticed the ads. When the new release was originally launched there was a box to opt out of advertising. Now it's gone. I'm not sure if most Disqus users are even aware of all the garbage sitting in the bottom of their blogs since it's to the right while recent posts are to the left (where the eye normally travels).
Being the fun adult does have its drawbacks. I'll bet my cousins has a couple of sparklers in her bag just because she her purses tend to be a little like those clown cars.
ReplyDeleteIf you live south of the Mason-Dixon line or in any warm climate, you're going to want to do some soul-searching before you head this way. We have 3 seasons: winter, spring, and fall. Blink and there goes summer ~ whoosh!
It's a night photographic technique called painting with light. Slow shutter and ISO speeds, click, move the camera up & down (in this case) until the meter has gotten enough light, and voila! Vibration. I took a ton of shots and only got a couple that looked or felt like vibration. Some are wildly colorful and fun but wouldn't have worked well here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. It really is a pretty area & I love living so close to the ocean. I do mind that we have higher than average fog-bound days and winter is tough as hell. The cold and lack of light bothers me something fierce.
ReplyDeleteThanks Meleah. It was FUN!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dufus. Thankfully, Rick reminded me of painting with light when I was whining about this prompt.
ReplyDeleteBoom Boom, you have to move closer or we're nevah evah going to have fun together.
ReplyDeleteThanks V.
ReplyDeleteThanks PK.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan. Once my husband reminded me of the technique, I had tons o' fun painting with light. I've got some really interesting stuff that doesn't work for vibration but will come in handy for some things I've got going on.
ReplyDeleteSweeeeet!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely pics. I'm finding it difficult to leave a message here - fingers crossed...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous rural and urban captures, Chery. Love! xo
ReplyDeleteOops, Cheryl. :)
ReplyDeleteYou live in a beautiful part of the world. It always looks so clean and fresh. Gorgeous views!
ReplyDeleteGrrrr. Try 'H', not disqus whatever!
ReplyDeleteomg, that is where you live??? in the heart of a postcard perfect picture ... it's beautiful!!!
ReplyDeletethe last photo is my fave! Thanks for sharing at Your Sunday Best.
