Sadly, there are going to be a shit-ton of people witnessing this spectacle in Baltimore on Saturday.
When Rhonda pulled up lame, Kevin started training for Cure JM's biggest fundraising event. From what I've read, it hasn't been pretty. My guess is by the time he finishes, he's going to be an unlovely mess wearing a smile so radiant we'll feel its warmth up here in New England.

| She ain't heavy, she's my daughter. |
Thanks to a generous friend of Cure JM's, the all-volunteer nonprofit trying to find a way to put an end to juvenile myositis, any donation you make between now and Saturday, October 13, to support Kevin's run will be MATCHED dollar-for-dollar--up to a total of $10,000.
So whip out your credit card and donate to one of these secure First Giving sites raising money to help find a cure for JM:

Some of you may know Kevin who tells tall tales over at Always Home and Uncool and Homemaker Man whose always got an opinion to share on Musings from the Big Pink. Please don't hold that against the kids.

That's not heavy, Cheryl. Kevin's efforts are actually quite heartwarming. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI hope they raise a lot of money for this worthy cause!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice tribute! If I was still in Baltimore, I'd cheer them on!
ReplyDeleteI pray that they are able to raise a lot of money and provide a great deal of support and awareness.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dad!
ReplyDeleteWell, great, now I'm crying.
ReplyDeleteWow - I never looked so sexy. Thanks Cheryl. I'll scream your name as they cart my away in the ambulance.
ReplyDeleteKevin looks really pretty. What a great story!
ReplyDeleteNice photos and wonderful love!
ReplyDeleteMe, too.

ReplyDeleteAhs. I hope the fundraiser goes well.
ReplyDeleteGO KEVIN!! Run like Forrest Gump!!!!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteI am so moved.... FANTASTIC!
ReplyDeleteYou always see the bright side; I love that about you. It's part of Kevin's charm, too.
ReplyDeleteThey've got a bit of a ways to go to reach their goal but they're well on their way.
ReplyDeleteOf course you would! If I weren't so freaked out by big cities, we'd be there. When I first heard about it, I asked my running husband if he'd like to run the marathon associated with this weekend event. He said yes; I gave it some thought and realized I'd be a mess down there. Oy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Danielle. They're a small but determined group of families and friends of kids with JM. Kevin's been writing about his daughter since he started his blog. That alone has raised awareness among those who read his stuff. In turn, many of us share what his family's doing. The circle gets bigger and there is so much more hope.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to tackle this prompt, Cheryl! I'll go over and make a donation.
ReplyDeleteyou look fantastic in that first photo. you are now my goal. ;) have a great race. i love running.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic Cheryl. I do my share of charity runs, but this is cool.
ReplyDeleteYou're joking, right? PleaseSayYes PleaseSayYes.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they're going to have a blast. Even if it kills Kevin.
ReplyDeleteDarlin', you've got sexy covered without my help. No need to scream my name but if you tell the ambulance personnel you know me, you'll get a much better ride. I do get around--usually by ambulance.
ReplyDeleteI think he's adorable.
ReplyDeleteAs tough as it is to follow their journey of these kids, the family and friends of JM kids are so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ana.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian. I give huge props to Kevin and would love to see him cross that finish line. Fingers crossed he doesn't trip over it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Coco.
ReplyDeleteThe one time I don't cry about this is when I write for the kids.
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough one, Ziva. My heart aches for these kids. When I see these families and friends come together so determined to find a cure, I get excited that they'll actually succeed.
ReplyDeleteI think he may just hear you. It's not that far from Jersey to Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteha!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, he's actually sort of gorgeous!
