30 Days O . . . Dear Gawd, Make it End!

This is the day I expected to post the most orgasmic collage composed of photos of all the things I've wanted to capture to illustrate today's prompt.

October has been crazy for me at work; the weather has been cold, gray, and incessantly rainy; and, more often than not, I haven't felt well. These are some of the reasons I decided not to post a photo of today's prompt: Bullshit. The other reason is that pretty much everything around me involves some level of bullshit and I don't want to give it more energy by capturing it with my camera.

PURE JOY ~ NO SHIT!

She was one of the 1,004 runners who participated in the Amica Marathon held in Newport, Rhode Island on Sunday. While I know nothing about her, I think I know why she's so ecstatic: her finishing time qualified her for entry into the *2014 Boston Marathon.

That's kind of a big deal.

As an aside, she finished 106th among all runners, placed 2nd in her age division, and 17/432 among all females.

To see what others threw into the fan for Day 16, head on over to bullshit central.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those of you on RM watch, he posted a new personal best at this distance with a 9:42 min/mile pace. He finished 407th among all runners, 39/112 in his division, and 268/571 among all males.
Yes, he's amazing.
* Apparently it's too late in the year to qualify for the 2013 Boston Marathon based on time. This is one helluva crazy sport.
  8. Awesome! Finishing a marathon is hard enough, qualifying for Boston is quite an accomplishment.
  11. Great idea without having bullshit! I wanted to give up about today's theme and I almost did. Thank you for sharing a nice one!
  13. I don't know what this post is about, but I saw the word orgasmic. Where are the dirty photos?
  14. P.S. -- Why is there an agent from Homeland Security standing next to the black Jeep in the top photo? Is that runner with a terrorist cell?
  15. Impressive. I can't imagine running a marathon, but I surely admire those who do!
    =)
  20. The HS agent was there keeping an eye on another woman who just happened to be the first woman across the finish line. Pretty damn suspicious looking too. This other woman may or may not have been part of the cell. Either way, it was good to know HS was on the job.
  21. Thanks Jo. I'm always surprised at what I capture with a high shutter speed and a bit of luck.
  22. They're all nuts, Sue. Really, really nuts. We spectators are almost as crazy. Stood in drizzly, cloudy, weather with winds blowing at a sustained speeds of 20+ mph with constant gusts up to 30 mph (the sand being blown around was everywhere) freezing my butt off just to support his gig. We were there at 6:30; had to hang around until 8:15 when the race finally started; and he didn't get in until 12:30. Since this started and ended at a beach, there was nowhere to go to get in out of the cold. Still recovering. ;-)
  23. There were tons of qualifiers in this race. A lot of the marathons courses around here don't start and finish in the same location making them ineligible for Boston or NYC. The winds off the RI coast were brutal. I'm really surprised everyone ran as well as they did. The cold weather helped but the winds were merciless. Thanks for the congrats to RM. He was hoping for 4 hours but he was pleased given how tough it was to run in that wind.
  24. Of course I did. That's why I chose this one to post. (Well, that and the triumphant look on her face.)
  25. You're welcome Coco. I wondered if this prompt would be difficult for you. Where I'm from, it's just a word I've heard all my life and I don't even flinch at hearing it used or using it myself. I'm glad you were able to post your puppy mail and talk about your loneliness. That's part of what makes blogging so nice. We get to help each other through the tough times and celebrate the good times.
  26. Hers was the best smile I saw from my vantage point. The finish line was just down the chute from me so I didn't see anyone's expression when they crossed. The spot a ton of us chose was great because we could the see the runners coming down the road, make the turn, and head towards the shoot. Got lots of pictures of Rick this time. Usually I'm lucky if I manage to get one.
  27. I try to do what's best for me and hope that it works for others too. This helped me get my head out of my arse. Been a very long, busy month & there's so much more to come.
  30. Really crazy to only be able to qualify for the 2014. That's eons away! She could be a couple of stone heavier and slower by then (hope not, but you get my drift!).
