Both in thought and in feeling, even though time be real, to realise the unimportance of time is the gate of wisdom.
~ Bertrand Russell
I was playing around with this photo in PicMonkey and decided to try one of the free-for-now oddball effects.
This is what happened when I pushed the Invert button.
I feel as though I could walk into eternity.

nicely done. and i like your title, too.
ReplyDeleteWow. I feel the same way!
ReplyDelete=)
great gate, love the design of the wrought iron - the inverted is interesting, making it look like a holy place - which I suppose it is. thanks for your comment on 'flowers' Spritzer is a clever boy - has yet learned 'come' 'stay' and finished for when we are worn out. he need a young person to play with....
ReplyDeleteI love cemeteries. I find them beautiful and restful places. The photos are marvelous. Your skills are mad!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful wrought iron gate. I love the inverted photo. It makes me feel like i could walk into eternity also.
ReplyDeleteInteresting effects in Pic Money, I need to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteas long as you are not walking that way this weekend we are cool...smiles...love what you did with the pic....the light falls just right...
ReplyDelete"The original Stairway to Heaven", I like, I like very much.
ReplyDeleteI like the last inverted effect on the photo. It made it look like there is a wooden pathway leading to the cross or the grave. We could have a symbolic discussion here.
ReplyDeleteWow, I was thinking the same thing. They say you see a white light... Great photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gate - love how you've created the "white light" - a walk into eternity. Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it oddly intriguing? Turns the somber mood into something completely different.
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye of this gate for a while. Took this challenge to finally get my butt out there to shoot it.
ReplyDeleteSpritz probably needs your loving family more than he needs a young person. If he knows those 3 commands, you're doing well. Shepherd's are smart and so, so sweet.
Thanks Linda. There are so many beautiful ones in this area, it's hard not to fall in love with them. This one is quite old and very, very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteThanks JarieLyn.
ReplyDeletePicMonkey is being developed and upgraded by the same folks responsible for Picnik (which Google pulled, removed some great features, and added to G+ to encourage more users to join). It's easy to use and lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteNah, too busy to go there this weekend. Besides, the NASCAR All-Star Race is on tonight. Maybe The Jeff will blow another engine, cut a tire, or get caught up in another wreck. It's been a tough year to enjoy watching the races.
ReplyDeleteThanks MizzKay. I almost used that as the title since the inverted colors make those shadows look like stairs. Good eye to notice.
ReplyDeleteI almost agree since I thought it looked like a lit wooden pathway to an altar of sorts. St. Peter's pulpit on judgment day? Definitely a lot going on here that's evocative even to a heathen like me.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like it! Thanks for dropping by.
ReplyDeleteIt was a huge surprise to see what materialized after inverting the colors. It changes the mood of the photo completely.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really cool special effect!
ReplyDeleteIncredible! The first shot actually looks very inviting. The second, while awesomely cool, not so much. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot. The second does remind me a walk into something but I don't think that is an eternity I would like, although I love purple. Love your title!
ReplyDeletewow! so do I ...
ReplyDeleteGood effect! I like the vision of the walk into the light!
ReplyDeleteI love that wrought iron gate, so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Loredana.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between the two. I think each is warmly welcoming in its own fashion. What I like best about the inverted colors is all the gold. The purple? Not so much.
ReplyDeleteOn occasion I prefer illusion to reality. I was blown away by all that shimmery gold in the inverted copy. Funny thing is that I've had my eye on that gate for over a month. Took FMTSO to finally go shoot it!
ReplyDeleteI just love all the gold that appeared like magic!
ReplyDeleteI love the illusion of all that golden light. I prefer the original but I'm a sucker for gold.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jama. So do I.
ReplyDeleteOooooh. I might just have to go try this myself! How cool. So fun to play with effects.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought I liked the straight picture best but the photoshopped version kept calling me back. Nice job.
ReplyDeletewow, that is something what one button will do to a photo...this is really, really terrific!!
ReplyDeleteWow. Wow. Wow. I really HATE cemeteries. But you managed to make this one look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, that takes my breath away. Otherworldly and a story waiting to happen...
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a purist myself, but sometimes effects change the entire mood.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. I had the same problem. Like what's real but that gold is so alluring.
ReplyDeleteSometimes effects are fun, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThanks Meleah. It really is quite beautiful. The older ones just have so much character.
ReplyDeleteThanks C. Now go write that story! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove that effect ... it's perfect for that photo!
ReplyDeleteI discovered textures this year and love using them for special effects. Isn't messin' with a perfectly good shot fun?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that last one looks just like a dream. JUST like it.
