30 Days of Photographs II: Architecture

From afar, the spire on this church appears to be reaching for the sky.

Here's the down and dirty about this challenge. It's meaningless. There are no winners, losers, prizes, awards, or tangible rewards involved. There is a list of 30 prompts. Each day, we each post one of our own new photographs that represents that word. There are R-U-L-E-S, lots and lots of rules. I think they shoot you if you break 'em.

The other combatants participants in this 30 days of insanity are folks I've never had any prior contact with in the 'sphere 'ceptin' for 00dozo. She made this challenge sound so damn horrible, I just had to join. The hosts are Mike and Ziva, listed in the top 2 positions. The rest are listed in order using the Dewey Decimal System so as not appear to be playing favorites. (Keep in mind, I'm new to this group and I want to make a really good first impression. Once I've been around them for a bit, I'll return to what passes for normal for me.)

That's it. Tomorrow's prompt is: From An Ant’s Perspective. I can hardly wait.

  1. It's actually a pencil sketch that I let the color bleed through. I'm not a big fan of textures. I like the way sketching it brought out the details.

  2. I'm sorry I haven't been by to comment on your posts yet. I thought I added you to my reader, but didn't. :( However, I'll be commenting the rest of the way out. I wanted to comment on this one because it was soooo amazing. It could have been used from an ant's perspective too. Wow!

  3. How very cool!  I will be back when I have more time to poke around at everyone's postings!!!

  4. That's cool. The list has been confusing. You know what's odd? Every photo I've posted for the current prompt would work for the following day's prompt too. It's like I'm living in a time-space continuum. Very very odd.

  5. Some days have been really funny. Some days have been a mixed bag. It's getting more challenging because I'm running out of stamina!

  6. Aaah! I kept staring at this photo wondering how you lessened the density and managed to keep the detail and outlines so strong! Very cool effect :-)

  8. Ah yes, the Dewey Decimal Syste, my favourite...I think all spires reach for the sky, or for God, it's in their nature.

  10. I thought we just ended up alphabetically.  Oh well...no wonder no one comments to my stuff in comparison...I must have gotten the card which was stuck directly behind another.  Such luck I have.

  17. They shoot us if we break the rules?  Crap!  I'm glad I haven't broken any!  I love this photo.  It's so pretty.

  18.  That is a great photo of a really interesting old church.  And you are right about the listing of participants.  I think it's all fixed as a competition, that isn't a competition.  You are giving them all a run for their money though.

Gorgeous shot. I don't know how you made it look like that, but it's super cool

That's a beautiful building, and your sketched rendering enhances what's pretty about it, which are the architectural details. I'm amazed at how many of us picked churches for this theme when there are so many good examples of other kinds of architecture. Either we're all deeply and secretly religious, or we're all heathens trying to make good with God.

  22. It's the only photo of a building I'd taken since March 1 so I used it. I live in a little city that has some of the most amazing architecture but I didn't have time to go shoot something new.

  23. I love the quality of this. Almost like through mist or bleary eyes.

  24. That is absolutely gorgeous! Oh, and MikeWJ and Ziva won't shoot you if you break the rules. It's much, much worse. You'll actually wish they'd shoot you. :-)

  25. Well, it's working for you.

  26. So true, dear Nicky, our little rule breaker. Wait until you see what we have in store for you.

  27. So, does this mean you'll be posting every day during April? Booyah!

  28. I love the wash (which I like to call, "pickling") effect.  It really suits the design of this church.

    ;-)
