Springy
The local meteorologists started calling this a "fake winter" due to a nearly complete lack of snow, frigid temperatures, and ice. Me? I've called it a well-deserved reprieve after last year's brutality.
Two days after I shot this, March roared in like her lioness self. My guess is her show of power was merely a reminder that whatever this season is, it isn't over yet.

These are colored flowers and delicious. Great beauty. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very fascinating flower you have captured here! Glad that you have had a mild winter. It has also been very mild in Texas, and is already spring here with everything starting to bloom out. More than ready. Thank you Cheryl for stopping by my blog also! Cheers! Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI loved this winter (even though we are getting snow today, ha). We've had two terrible winters in a row and with all that rain we had last year, I was ready for a mild winter.
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty, never seen anything like it! I was disappointed by the lack of snow. When we moved here to PA last spring everyone went on and on about the winters and to "prepare yourself"...guess we got faked out..lol Maybe next winter :)
ReplyDeletei will def take it...though now they are calling for snow here tomorrow...we shall see....nice shot...
ReplyDeleteoh, we do have a summery winter too... 80's in February and March? wow, it barely happens and I'm worried how high it can be on summer here in California. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, Cheryl. It isn't over until it's over. Today the snow is melting, but I'm sure there will be more before March and April are over. Spring never really begins here until May.

Ooooh! I like that shot. It reminds me of those orange Indian sweets which are all sticky, crunchy filaments. Droooooool :)
ReplyDeleteCheryl
ReplyDeleteYou words are oh so true! Today the wind is blowing ... again. Snow is melting and they are calling for 50's and upper 40's for a few days.
Beautiful picture!
Great shot. It has been a mild winter for us too, but it's snowing right now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot...love your photos, the swans are so lovely too. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic! It could feature on the Sesame Street :) Thank you for leaving a sweet comment on my humble muscari :)
ReplyDeleteLovely shot, great & vivid colors!

ReplyDeleteVery unusual flower but so beautiful and different....You really have so many great shots here on your blog...I have had fun visiting....
ReplyDeleteCheryl, enjoy your "fake" winter and all that it has to offer ... and that photo is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeletegreat shuts and nice colors :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sign of spring Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteHere in NY, we got snow last week too.
The most we've had all winter, but it was the unpleasant, heavy wet stuff.
It has been an uncharacteristically mild winter, but I am soooooo ready for spring.
Sending you wishes for a beautiful week ahead.
I wish all winters were mild like this one!

Always nice to see a post on here! Spring seems to be teasing Colorado too...I say bring on the snow...(though I still have a couple feet in the front yard)
ReplyDeleteThese flowers can't wait some more.
ReplyDelete"Here we go." they said.
Fascinating flowers. We experienced warmer temps today in the Colorado Rockies. Actually stepped outside without a coat and survived. :) Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. Much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower, not seen it before.
ReplyDeleteyour photograph is simply beautiful. And I'll have to agree with what you say. We had -25 in lamost two months here in Norway last winter.. I am happy is not this way this time. Its cold and icy, and very slippery on the roads, but surely it's better ! ; )
ReplyDeleteThe yellow color is very much spring like! Love your DOF.
ReplyDeleteOur summer has been pretty mild and I'm hoping our coming winter is the same.
ReplyDeleteA lovely image.
Have any idea what type of tree or shrub this is? So interesting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at Your Sunday Best, Cheryl. :)
A great capture!
ReplyDeleteThat photos is exquisite.
ReplyDelete=)
We're having spring weather here ourselves. Mid 60s. Windy, clear skies. It snowed last week...I'd like one more big storm, the kind where everyone has to stay home and we hunker down and ride it out. Then spring can come - I'm itching to out there and work on my flower beds. Gardening is so relaxing for me, and this year my limbs are cooperating!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what it is, Nancy. My husband came home from his morning run all excited about seeing a forsythia in full bloom in February. Poor man is quite delusional. Now that I know where it is, I'm going to head back to get a better look. The day I was out there the winds off the water were harsh. Since then, the weather has turned winterish again. It's supposed to get milder later this week. Hoping to get out there to see how it fared and spend a bit more time trying to figure out what it is. Definitely not a forsythia. ::snort::
ReplyDeleteIs this witch hazel? I like it! I think a good old-fashion snowstorm or thunderstorm is Mother Nature's way of reminding us that we are not really in charge of anything. at. all.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Can you tell how jealous I am?!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I don't what it is. My husband told me he'd seen a forsythia in full bloom so I hied out there and this is what I saw. If I weren't so lazy, I'd do a google image search. It's a tall bush with very long limbs. I just love how delicate the buds/leaves/whatever are.
