I love birds of prey. We have a family of red-tail hawks that live in the trees in our backyard. Our house has treetop views, so we always get a great look at them. One let me get really close to him once.
They're amazing creatures. That is, until the ravens come and pick territorial battles with them. The ravens tend to outsmart the hawks.
Thanks for stopping by my camera critter post and commenting. Our kitty (make that old cat) gets car sick, but once his has taken care of his tummy, he sleeps the rest of the way.
Nice aerial shots. I always have trouble following birds fast enough to get a good pic. - Margy
I can identify rough-tailed hawks if I see them sitting down, can't recognize them in flight. Can also recognize Merlin Falcons if I hear them, but not by sight. Beautiful photos, though, Cheryl. That's what counts.

Great pics. I think it's a Meriadoc Hawk
Knowledge is overrated. Now, WISDOM is essential...and you, my friend, area a wise, wise woman. :-) Whatever sort of raptor it is, it's beautiful.
Whatever it is, it's beautiful!
=)
either way, a cool capture...i realized long ago i know nothing...
A ripe fruit will rot....always be growing...
it is beautiful ...
Cool sighting, it could be the Falcon. I see the black sideburns that my field guide photo shows too. Raptors are always exciting to see.
Whatever it is, it's beautiful!

Yes, I'm a nerd.
The less you realize you know, the wiser you have become. :)
Sorry, can't help. Once I get beyond the kestrel, the red kite and the common buzzard, I begin to struggle. Beautiful bird though!!
Knowledge vs wisdom.
And how the gap widens.
If you recognize you don't know anything you're smarter than the average person.
Oh, I can relate to that feeling.
And I love these photos - gorgeous!
Hope all is well...

These are beautiful photos! They feel a bit lonely, especially after seeing the post title. Beautiful bird though :)
I do believe ya got yourself a beautiful hawk there and quite a shot to go with it. Marvelous picture sweetie!

Beautiful images! Imagine all we'd see if we had their vantage point on the world!
Astounding shots! Superb.

Yes, so true.
Great captures.
The second photo is my favorite.

great shot, you capture them in your camera so nicely
Whatever kind of hawk/falcon it is, you captured it beautifully. :)
Looks like a Peg to me Cheryl.
Beautiful capture, whatever it is :-)
I love your title, how right you are.
Lovely composition with the bird on the big, blue sky.
Just as long as it is not a vulture.
Really pretty. Love the sepia.
Delightful photos

The longer I live, the less I know
you are so humble. The Chinese have a saying, I have eaten more salt that you eat rice.
Sometimes there is so much beauty in simplicity. Thanks for sharing.

It's so hard to photograph them. Well done. I always get arguments about what they are. Just enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for visiting my critters!
Lovely critter shots Cheryl!
