Irene, you lose . . .

. . . and the flowers win!

the blanket flowers
blossomed with verve and vigor
such vivid delight

with colors faded
these buds stayed strong, opened wide
their sweet scent pervades

dormant since July
the beach plum bush forced a bloom
a garden surprise

  1. Oh Cheryl, this is just lovely! I've been vicariously taking a colored pencil drawing class through Best (the one who actually paid the money and attended) and I'm so excited to have some lovely blooms to practice on. For my birthday, she gave me a set of REAL colored pencils and the Bristol paper. Would you mind if I tried to draw your gorgeous blooms?

  3. That gaillardia (blanket flower, I never heard it called that) is gorgeous, Cheryl, the roses are lovely, and the beach plum blossom is simply amazing.

  4. The first flower looked as though it was playing catch with the sun and had just caught the light...but I swooned over the rose....yes I did. You captured its delicate nature.
