Back roads and byways

small town born, farm raised,
city crushed, highway slam-jammed—
settled on the fringe

blinked and it changed
shadows erased—beams and rays
sunlight at daybreak

big picture to small
look deeply into shadows
hidden treasures wait

rustic charm abounds
lose your way on the back roads—
look through childlike eyes

  9. Oh wow. That one with the heron and pelican, that should be a postcard! Do you sell your work? I'd love to buy that one. Nothing wrong with the others ;-) you've got a great eye for framing a shot. I also really appreciated your words ~ just what I needed to hear today as I'm stressing out to go relax.

  10. Nice eagle shot! You know, I have all kinds of birds here, some that have really strange and unique songs, yet I never have been able to catch a glimpse of them, let alone a photo.

I love the overgrown rail line. It's a bit nostalgically sad, but it reminds me of an area where I once lived (which I did love).

    Great photos, as usual.

    ;-)

  16. Okay, the poem is lovely but the photos are amazing! I love, Love, LOVE the reflection in the first one. The reflection in the second one is great, but the rays of sunlight in the third is show stopping. And, seriously, who doesn't love herons?
