The Stupid Shall Inherit the Earth ~ Part II

When I woke up this morning, I was tired. I contemplated going back to bed. Why I didn't, I honestly can't remember anymore. Six hours ago seems like a lifetime right now.

I love my camera. It's become appended to my body. I went through a five year period when the mere thought of picking it up again gave me sweats. I thought I'd lost the ability to take a decent photo. I finally overcame that fear when I started to blog. I needed visuals. I picked up my camera and haven't put it back down. I've recaptured the joy I'd felt most of my life whenever I had a camera in hand.

This blog has been an outlet for me to share parts of my world through my photos. My most recently posted photos are now history.

Long story very short, I'm a technology idiot. I was having major problems uploading photos. I deleted a ton of Picasa albums hoping my internet connection would stop dropping off when I tried to open Picasa online. I thought any picture in the Picasa album labeled Deckside Thoughts held all of my published photos. I learned this is, in fact, false. I also learned that doing all of this didn't help.

It turns out the problem wasn't with Picasa at all. It was using Blogger in Draft. BiD is terrible, awful, horrible, and very bad for uploading photos. All photos uploaded using BiD are NOT automatically saved in the default blog folder. Bloggers beware. Consider yourselves warned.

Why, oh why, do I continue to learn lessons the hardest way possible? I must have been one nasty be-atch or bastid in a past life.

If you browse back in time, you'll notice all kinds of posts that have at least one big white box with a nifty X in the corner. Those empty boxes used to be photos—some of them were even fairly good.

Sure, I could go back and fix them all. If I had a fortnight or two to waste. (Notice the use of fortnight there. Cleverly done, no?)

One question. How important is it? In the grand scheme of things, not important at all. I have them all on my computer. Most are even all on back-up DVDs.

In memory of all those photos that are not there anymore . . .

. . . the bees. And you thought they were gone forever!

She who laughs last, laughs best. Take that Blogger in Draft!

Peace.

Linking up to Theme Thursday: Camera very early this week because I need to warn all those good people before any of them screw up like I did.

14 thinkers thunk a thought:

  2. At least the photos aren't gone for ever. I loved the bee photos. I still laugh when I think of you putting a dead bee on one of the flowers! LOL! Again, I love your search terms. They're turning into my favorite part of reading your blog.

  3. Slightly panicked here. Need to go check what I'm using for my blog(my family one, not my main one. If those pics aren't there, I may cry)

  6. It is a family trait to learn lessons the hard way. It's the combination of inspiration and impatience that can lead to just this sort of trouble. Don't look back- move forward. I'm sure that there's another dead bee just waiting for you to pose him on a flower.

  14. Hows disappointing! Actually I haven't backed up my blog for ages so thanks for the reminder. I also keep my pics on Flickr just in case everything goes pear shaped oh and also on a remote hard drive but if the blog goes belly up, I'm toast.
